Bedtime Stories

Good Evening Friends. This is the Monday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ brought to you by Olive Garden.

I’m shutting-down my computer shortly before 9 PM tonight and retreating to my master bedroom due to a videocassette recording dilemma. I’ve got all 3 of my VCRs working overtime tonight and early tomorrow morning taping over 8 hours of quality television programming on 5 different networks in addition to watching over 3 hours of TV shows before I even go to sleep tonight. Who said that there is nothing good on TV nowadays ?  Not me !  Tomorrow (Tuesday) night is even more ridiculous. My VCRs will go to work for me in taping nearly 11 hours of shows that I can’t watch !  That’s right I’ve gone VCR crazy like it’s 1988 !

Be sure to catch the blog in action tomorrow afternoon after 4 PM as I present to you my weekly ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’. You just won’t believe what could be on my mind tomorrow !

Later this week on the ‘Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’ I’ll show you how you can eradicate mosquitoes from your Life forever with the help of a common bathroom product.

Until we hang out again here on the blog remember this:

Olive Garden:  When you’re here, you’re Family.

Have a safe and peaceful Monday night everyone !

Good Night Beckie !  So Long March !

The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club

‘You will travel far and wide for both pleasure and business.’

NO - I don’t think so. I have no plans to go anywhere ‘far and wide’ anytime soon. This fortune cookie message was obviously intended for someone else !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

1.  I woke up at 4 AM this morning and lingered around my home for a good 3 hours before I departed for the movie theatre. I arrived at 7:20 AM, and that still wasn’t early enough to beat Anne J. to the main lobby !

2.  Happy Anniversary Anne J. !  It was one year ago today that you asked me if I ever considered serving The Lord at Life Pointe Church. I responded that I had been thinking about it for a few weeks. Anne J. responded, ‘Well then let’s do something about it,’ and she put me to work as an inside usher with Marcela J. On that day I officially became a proud member of the Hospitality Team, and the rest is history on God’s fantastic journey !

3.  Gabriel and I made a fantastic team working the first shift manning the ‘Welcome & Information Center’. Venus was sparkling in her fresh new role as ‘Lobby Center Manager / Roamer’. Lisa and Luciana totally ruled the ‘Kids’ Life Registration Table’ as usual. Hattie was tough as nails as the ‘Kids’ Life Security Officer’. Everyone on the Hospitality Team should be proud of themselves for carrying out their duties in a most professional manner. This is how we serve God at the L.P.C. !

4.  A bunch of our first-time guests from Easter Sunday last week became second-time guests this week. That was so cool to see. It’s all about coming together corporately to praise and worship God, and Life Pointe Church is a wonderful place to do so. We’re hoping that our second-time guests become regular attenders every week, and that our regular attenders eventually become members of their church. Welcome to your family. This is how we roll - not just on Sunday mornings, but 24-7. We are the church !

5.  Pastor Travis continued our ‘Simply Jesus’ message series this week which runs through the entire month of April. He spoke on Jesus who was sent from Heaven to Earth on a mission by God the Father. Jesus came as the Prophet, the Priest, and the King. Jesus is alive today, as he sits at the right-hand of the Father. Jesus created everything that we possess; therefore, it all belongs to Him. Pastor Travis asked us to stand up if we needed Jesus to help us see Him as either our Prophet, our Priest, or our King. Nearly everyone stood up. For me personally I stood up because I need Jesus to help me see Him as my Priest. 35 years ago I was taught in Catholic School that the Priest of our church stood between me and Jesus. In reality Jesus Himself is our Priest. No one stands between us and Him.

The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

If it’s Saturday morning then it must be time for me to nourish and exercise my mind and body. And a-way we go !

1.  I ate a MASSIVE breakfast at the Cracker Barrel this morning during the six-o-clock hour. The place was nearly packed with Indy racers and race fans, Spring Breakers, and natives of Homestead and Florida City. I drowned my stack of french toast in an inch of maple syrup. Where’s my Lipitor ? !

2.  After the feast I did the walk, and it was the longest walk yet !  Google Earth estimated my walk at 1.98 miles. It was definitely between 1.9 and 2.0 miles, and I did it in less than 37 minutes on this clear, crisp, and cool 63°F morning. Pretty soon these walks will be coming to a gradual end for the hot and sticky Summer season.

3.  Inside Joke:  ‘Who’s that happy kid walkin’ ’round the neighbourhood ?  Who’s that happy kid walkin’ ’round the neighbourhood ?  It’s me !  It’s me !  It’s C.M.D. !’  That’s right - I’m that 41-year-old ‘happy kid’. Why am I so happy ?  Read on …

4.  Whenever I walk the walk I feel like I’ve taken back my neighbourhood. I’ve lived here for nearly 13 years, but I’ve only really lived here for the past 3 months. Before Christmas Eve 2007 the only walking I did was to and from the mailboxes and the dumpsters. From 1995 to 2007 I merely existed in this neighbourhood. Now I am fully alive. Taking back my neighbourhood from obscurity has been just like taking back my Life from the darkness. I’ve wrapped my arms around my entire neighbourhood just like I’ve embraced this new Life that God has given me.

5.  My fresh new 2GB iPod Shuffle came along for this morning’s walk for the first time ever. My original 1GB iPod Shuffle started off as a 50-50 mix of newer Christian rock, pop, and hip hop music and older Secular dance music from my ‘once-upon-a-time’ life. Now it’s more like 72.5% Christian / 27.5% Secular. This fresh new 2GB iPod Shuffle will be solely Christian music. Fun Fact:  I occasionally refer to Christian music as ‘Republican Rock’.

Friday Night Blogroll Review

It’s Friday night friends, so that means it’s time for me to highlight some of my favourite bloggers with some of their best blog entries of this past week:

Travis presents a 4½-minute video shot by the Ritz Man of our ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt’ at Harris Field last Friday night. This is the G-rated version. The TV-14 version was (thankfully) not captured on tape.

Kelly gave me a hard time about not wearing my light-blue ‘CHURCH ROCKS !‘ tee-shirt at the aforementioned event. Travis stated that I can have an ‘I Survived The 2008 Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt’ tee-shirt once it rolls off of the presses. I’ll have to make sure that Kelly sees me wearing that or else there will be trouble !

Phil is all about various thoughts - a ‘Deep Thought‘ on Wednesday, a bunch of ‘Scattered Thoughts‘ on Thursday, and a collection of leftover ‘Smothered Thoughts‘ on Friday. I am flattered that P.J. has taken my ‘Tuesday Night’ mainstay and run with it on his blog. He’s cool like that !

Nathan is on God’s ‘V.I.P. List’ so that no bouncer is going to stop him from talking to Jesus on a regular basis.

Harmony has all of the pictures from InDependence Church’s Easter Sunday celebration at a local park in Weston.

Gary Lamb tells the mad crazy story of how his church’s Easter Egg Drop went down last Saturday up in Canton Georgia. What you are about to read could SHOCK you !  You are there as you check out the unbelievable saga in two parts - Part 1 and Part 2. You have been warned !

Bedtime Stories

We have a lot of fun here on this blog, and we also learn a lot too. There’s a time and a place for everything that’s good, and now is the time to be serious for a little while as I openly pray to God in these humble words of this particular moment in time:

Lord. It’s me again. Your buddy Chris. Over 19 months ago during the Summer Of 2006 I set course on a new Life (always capitalized). A new beginning. A rebirthing. An awakening. I awoke from the darkness that was so dominant during the first 39 years of my life (intentionally not capitalized). The dawn of my new Life began, and I was saved by You. You showed me. You guided me. You directed me. I put You in charge, and You have never let me down Lord. You have given me a purpose-filled Life. You have made me feel important and worthy for the first time in my Life.

Thank You Lord for introducing me to Life Pointe Church over 14 months ago and all of my loving friends and family. I never imagined that this Life could be attainable, but You have created this miracle, and I shall cherish it forever. You have given me some amazing people in this new Life such as J.T., Anne, Travis, Kelly, Phil, Marcela, Paul, Annie, Jesse, ReinaAlex, Ela, Nancy, Arlene, Hattie, Jonathan, Lillian, Venus, Kristina, Mark, Terry, Patricia, Lisa, Luciana, Casey, David, Tom, Nathan, Harmony, and the list just goes on and on and on. I didn’t know any of these loving people in 2006, but now they are all an integral part of this awesome Life of mine. I owe it all to You, for You Lord are the King of Kings - the most Almighty of them all. There is no other like You Lord.

Thank You God for giving up Your only Son on that raw and bloody cross so that my friends and I could live - I mean really live to honour Your true greatness. When non-believers see me and my friends they should be able to see Jesus Christ on Earth - living Life to its fullest extent and radically changing the world for the better.

Lord we are Your eyes, mouths, arms, hands, legs, and feet on Your glorious Earth that You created over 2,000 years ago. I am so truly blessed to be able to carry out Your mission day and night. I am so truly blessed to be one of Your disciples here on Earth. I am so truly blessed to be able to call You my Father. Thank You Lord for everything that You have provided me all throughout Your fantastic journey.

I love You God more than anyone or anything. Thank You for this day. Thank You for this night. I pray to You that all of my friends and family will be safe and peaceful on this night. Please provide them with what they need to carry out Your mission here on Earth. Please watch over them, and protect them from the evils and the darkness of this world.

I pray for all of this in the loving and caring name of You Lord God Almighty. AMEN.

Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame

This is an Internet hoax:

DON’T FLASH HEADLIGHTS AT ANY CAR WITH NO LIGHTS ON!!

Police officers working with the DARE program have
issued this Warning:

If you are driving after dark and see an on-coming car with no headlights on, DO NOT FLASH YOUR LIGHTS AT THEM! This is a common ‘Bloods’ member ‘initiation game’ that goes like this:  The new gang member under initiation drives along with no headlights, and the first car to flash their headlights at him is now his ’target.’ He is now required to turn around and chase and spot that car, then shoot and kill every individual in the vehicle in order to complete his initiation requirements. Police Departments across the nation are being warned. Their intent is to have all the new bloods nationwide drive around on Friday and Saturday nights with their headlights off.

In order to be accepted into the gang, they have to shoot and kill all individuals in the first auto that does a courtesy flash to warn them that their lights are off.

Make sure you share this information with all the drivers in your family!

Please forward this message to all your friends and family members to inform them about this initiation ritual. They are also known to drive with high beams on and will do the same as indicated above.

This Internet hoax has been in existence since 1998, and fresh new variants of it keep appearing in E-Mail Inboxes worldwide to this date. What was an Internet hoax in 1998 is still an Internet hoax in 2008. Hit that [DELETE] key upon receipt of it !

Read more about it.

Bedtime Stories

Me:  Hey I noticed that you’ve been blogging up a storm recently as the Ol’ Atom-Splitter over on Phil’s blog. Do you know about my blog ?  How ’bout dropping a comment or two on mine sometime ?

J.T.:  Oh I don’t have time to be reading blogs. I’m a busy man these days.

Me:  There’s only 3 blogs that you need to be reading - Travis’s, Phil’s, and mine. You know those of your 3 sons.

J.T.:  I have a 3RD son now ?

Me:  Yes I’m your oldest son, and Trav and P.J. are my younger brothers.

J.T.:  Well as my oldest son then it’s up to you to care for me when I get older and can’t care for myself - oh yeah and vacuum my living room.

Me:  Well as your oldest son then I should be invited to dinner sometime so that we can look at old pictures of us that I’m not in - and then I can vacuum your living room afterwards.

J.T.:  We can do that. Hey Anne did you know that we have an adopted 3RD son now ?  The Johnson Family just keeps getting bigger at Life Pointe.

Anne:  Of course we do. Have a great night son. I’ll see you bright and early on Sunday morning.

Me:  I’ll be there !

Bedtime Stories

And so we have right here right now the Tuesday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ - brought to you by Zicam.

My unexpectedly long Good Friday / Easter Sunday holiday weekend will soon come to a close as I pray to God and lay myself to sleep in about 2½-hours. I’ll get about 6 hours of sleep tonight, and then I’ll wake up at 5 AM tomorrow morning and be at work by 6 AM. I’m looking forward to getting back to my desk at work and catching up with everything there. Once upon a time I dreaded going to work, but now I adore it.

I saw the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle Endeavour over the eastern skies of Homestead tonight just after 8 PM. It was so cool watching the Space Shuttle play tag team with the ISS up in Earth’s orbit from practically sea level.

I bought my very first atomic radio-controlled clock today. It picks-up its signal from the NIST signal out of Fort Collins Colorado. I now know exactly what time it is, and I can set my watch and VCR clocks to its precise time.

FedEx delivered my fresh new 2GB iPod Shuffle from Apple late this afternoon. Now I can get to work and fill that thing up with today’s hottest Christian rock, pop, and hip hop hits !

And that’s how I roll tonight with my ‘Bedtime Stories’. Be sure to catch this blog in action again tomorrow for some more cool stuff, and don’t forget that Thursday night is ‘Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’ night. Until then remember this:

Zicam - Get over your cold faster.

Good Night Everyone !  Good Night Nancy !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

It’s Tuesday night, and all across the vast blogosphere everyone is wondering just one thing:  ‘What’s on Chris Day’s mind right now ?’

1.  It turned out to be a 4½-day / 115-hour holiday weekend away from work for me, and I had no clue that it would go down like that until I got sick with a head cold. Some events in Life you just can’t forecast or predict.

2.  I’ll be back at work bright and early tomorrow morning at 6 AM. I’d like to thank my good buddies Mr. Vitamin C, Dr. Airborne, y Señor Zicam for helping me make it through this most recent cold which I am about to declare as done and over with. ‘MISSION ACCOMPLISHED’.

3.  It was a cold morning in Homestead this morning. We didn’t quite get down into the mid-40s here - 51°F officially at the base and 49°F officially at Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, but wind chills were certainly down into the lower-to-middle-40s for a few hours.

4.  1.73 inches of rain - That’s how much we got here in Homestead on Saturday and Easter Sunday combined. We needed every last hundredth of an inch of it too. We’ve still got another 2+ months remaining of our dry season.

5.  Success In Iraq - Seeing thousands of Iraqi Christians attend Easter Sunday services at churches all throughout Baghdad without fear of violence.

6.  10 states lie entirely east of the great state of Florida, and 5 additional states extend further east than Florida. Can you name those 15 states ?

7.  I was home all day on Saturday, all day (after 12 noon) on Easter Sunday, and all day on Monday (aside from about 45 minutes late on Monday morning). So when does FedEx decide that it would be a perfect time to deliver a package to me that I need to sign for ?  Yep. You guessed it. During those 45 minutes when I stepped out late on Monday morning. That was God’s practical joke for me on Monday.

8.  Office Depot is my playground. I have to limit myself to no more than 45 minutes in that store or else I’ll end up buying the whole store. Pretty soon Staples will be opening up here in Homestead. It will be my second playground.

9.  Happiness is being able to dry a big load of wet clothes in the dryer in 50 minutes or less (compared with the two hours or more that it took before I had my rooftop dryer vent unclogged this morning).

10.  Happiness is working, talking, and laughing with Ela over the telephone while conducting church business. She keeps making me laugh. I like returning the favour.

Winter Returns To South Florida

… If only for about 36 hours.

As you wake up tomorrow (Tuesday) morning actual air temperatures in and around Homestead could bottom out in the mid-40s with wind-chills right around the 40°F mark for several hours. (Miami could be up to 10° milder / less colder than Homestead.) During the day on Tuesday we will struggle to reach 70°F. It won’t be nearly as cold on Wednesday morning, as more normal late-March weather returns.

BUNDLE UP ON TUESDAY MORNING !

I Was On CALL-FM This Morning

So I’m laying in bed this morning (off from work and dealing with a cold) when Kelly-Kel - the morning show host on 91.9-CALL-FM - proceeds to announce to her audience that (based on what a listener had told her) we would not have another Easter Sunday in March for another 192 years - until 2200 !

Of course that is absolutely nonsense, but I was still in bed - with a cold. I eventually managed to get out of bed at around 7:45 AM - a good 2½ hours later than normal for a typical Monday morning. After taking a shower, feeling a little bit better (and certainly refreshed) to begin a brand new day Kelly-Kel proceeded to make the stunning announcement again - no more Easter Sundays in March for another 192 years !

That was the final straw that broke the Easter Bunny’s back !

I called Kelly-Kel over the telephone, and I told her the real facts about Easter Sunday. It will always be the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs on or after the 21ST of March. This year the full moon occurred on the 21ST of March (Good Friday), so this Easter Sunday was the 2ND earliest Easter Sunday on record. The earliest calendar date that it can possibly occur on is the 22ND of March, and the latest that it can possibly occur on is the 25TH of April. There will be plenty of Easter Sundays to come in March !  Easter Sunday occurs in March generally every 3 to 5 years. Our next Easter Sunday in March will occur in just 5 years - on March 31ST 2013. One more fact. Easter Sunday will occur on April 24TH 2011 - the 2ND-latest calendar date that it can possibly occur on.

Due to audio difficulties at the time Kelly-Kel couldn’t put our actual recorded telephone conversation on-the-air, but she did reiterate the information for all of her morning show listeners.

THANK YOU Kelly-Kel for clearing all of that up for everyone else !

Bedtime Stories

It’s time for the Sunday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ - brought to you by Puffs.

Another 7-day week has concluded here on this blog, and it was the 2ND busiest week in our WordPress history based on total views. It was the busiest Monday in 5 weeks, the 2ND busiest Friday of 2008, the busiest Saturday ever, and the 3RD busiest Sunday of 2008. It was the busiest Thursday / Friday / Saturday / Sunday 4-day period ever!  Thank You Everyone for reading this blog on a regular basis !

I’ve got what appears to be my unprecedented 3RD cold in less than 5 months. Once upon a time I used to get a cold about once every 18 months to 3 years. Of course that was back when I was a plastic mannequin. This past Friday night I was amongst an estimated 5,000 to 9,000 adults, teens, and kids at the ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt‘ at Harris Field, and on this glorious Easter Sunday morning there were over 700 of us at the movie theatre for Life Pointe Church services. I was shaking hands and hugging people all over the place this morning, and now I have a head cold. Go figure !

I’ve already E-Mailed in sick to work for tomorrow. I think that it’s best for me to sleep-in tomorrow morning and feel better before I go back to work (hopefully on Tuesday morning).

So until you hear from me again here on the blog please pray that I feel better soon. Oh yeah, and remember this:

Puffs:  A nose in need deserves Puffs indeed.

Have a safe and peaceful night everyone. Good Night Venus.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

1.  When I arrived at the movie theatre a few minutes after 7:30 AM on this glorious Easter Sunday morning I was not the 1ST or 2ND or 3RD person to arrive. I was more like the 25TH person to arrive. A few people such as Pastor Paul and Alex and Tom were there all night long (just like Lionel Richie).

2.  For the first time ever we did 3 services on a Sunday morning - at 8:30, 9:40, and 10:50. It’s a good thing that we did. All 3 of them were pretty much full - especially the first service. The parking lot was full, the main lobby was buzzin’ with activity, the hallways were congested, and the services were alive and kickin’. God was all over the place from Campbell Drive southward all throughout the entire Flagship Cinemas complex. He was livin’ large and totally in charge !

3.  I didn’t recognize the faces of about 50% of those that showed up for Easter Sunday services this morning. A bunch of our guests got to know us at Harris Field this past Friday night. A bunch of our guests got their first glimpse of the goings-on of our church on this Sunday morning. Some of them will return again next week, and we will recognize them. Some of them will return again next Christmas or even next Easter Sunday. Some of them will never return again. If we introduced just one man, woman, or child to Jesus Christ this morning, and that person is saved and joins us on His fantastic journey then it was all worth it my friend. Saving just one person will always be more important than any other number.

4.  I drove Pastor Paul’s ’soccer-mom-minivan’ for the first time ever this morning. I got tired of looking at it parked illegally right in front of the front doors, so I took matters into my own hands. I grabbed the keys from Ms. Annie H. and I parked that thing over at Christ Fellowship across the street. (Just kidding - I parked it in a legal parking space nearby.)

5.  Pastor Travis was particularly loopy this morning during the 10:50 service. I think he overdosed on caffeine again. But he got the message out in-between the laughter. Jesus Christ was human - just like us. Jesus was a guy - just like us. Jesus was funny - just like us. Jesus was passionate - just like us. Jesus had emotions - just like us. Jesus had financial problems. Jesus was verbally and physically attacked. Jesus was lonely. Jesus was sorrowful. Jesus was exhausted. Jesus cried. Jesus bled. Jesus died. Jesus did all of that for us and for this moment in time. Jesus died on that cross so that we could Live !

Life Pointe Church Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt Tossed Salad

1.  When I arrived at Harris Field shortly after 3 PM yesterday afternoon one of the first persons I recognized was Tom. He was up on a ladder posting huge signs on the fences of the baseball fields which were later transformed into our MASSIVE egg hunt fields. After that Tom recruited me to assist him in putting up and securing into the ground the four canopies that spanned the Registration area. Tom is a genius with his hands, and when all was said and done Tom put in about 14 hours yesterday of blood, sweat, and tears. Tom is what Life Pointe Church is all about !

2.  The lines at the Registration tables began forming well before 5 PM, and at their peak they were over a quarter of a mile in length. I’m no statistician - oh wait a minute - YES I am - so if I had to estimate how many people actually showed up for our event then I would put it in the general vicinity of about 5,000 to perhaps 6,000. That’s pretty much triple the amount of people that we were expecting. If 2% of those adults and kids show up for one of our three Easter Sunday services tomorrow morning (8:30, 9:40, and 10:50) then we will be quite busy at the movie theatre.

3.  From inception to event we had exactly 4 weeks to plan and prepare for everything. We did an incredible job pulling everything together, working as a team, and putting on this event for our thousands of guests. Ms. Annie H. and Ms. Kelly J. were absolutely amazing as leaders of the overall Registration area. Sure we had our glitches that occurred, and chaos that ensued, and tempers that flared, but at the end of it all this event was nothing short of an overwhelming success story. We came. We saw. We conquered. We will go back to the drawing board once the dust settles, and decide if we want to do this all over again next Easter. If we do then we will begin planning for it many months in advance to greatly improve upon everything.

4.  Based on various reports all throughout Harris Field the kids and the teens in attendance were very well behaved. We had some problems with some of our adult guests. We encountered a few of these problems during the lengthy Registration process, within the concessions area, out on the egg hunt fields, and especially during the prize-claim and exit process. It was a long night for everyone. In response to one particular verbal outburst that occurred late in the evening we may be ‘church people’, but we are also regular human beings - just like you. We are no better than you. We never make that claim. We make mistakes too - just like you. We also learn from our mistakes - just like you.

5.  We took Harris Field back at around 10 PM, disassembled everything, and cleaned-up the joint with several boxes of trash bags chock-full of garbage. I was absolutely proud of my City Of Homestead for being there on-site with a pick-up truck to collect all of the trash that we collected. They have learned from their mistakes in the past, and we will as well.

6.  Pastor Travis brought us all together at the end of it all to cap off the night with an awesome prayer to put everything back into perspective. This event was not at all about us. This event was all about giving back to our community. That is why we exist - to serve God first and foremost - and to serve our guests - those who live and breathe all around us. Some of our guests will hopefully join our rapidly growing family and mission in the future. God is always at work here in Homestead Florida. Unfortunately Satan is working hard too. On this night God absolutely won hands down - no questions about it !

Bedtime Stories

It’s past 11 PM EDT on this Good Friday night, and I just got home from the ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt‘ at Harris Field about 30 minutes ago.

I was on my two feet for nearly 8 hours non-stop this afternoon and this evening, but now I am sitting down here at my computer. I forgot how nice sitting down actually feels !  I can’t wait to get in that bed of mine to lay down and go to sleep. I’m pretty sure that’s going to feel totally awesome as well !

Tomorrow morning’s regularly-scheduled ‘Walk-A-Thon’ has been cancelled. I got enough exercise standing up and walking around for 8 hours today. In lieu of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ I shall present to you a very special edition of the ‘Tossed Salad’ featuring a recap of the events of today.

Until then remember this:

Have a good night’s sleep on us. Mattress Discounters !

Good Night Everyone !

Bedtime Stories

It’s right around 8:30 PM EDT on a Thursday night, and I’ve got your ‘Bedtime Stories’ for you right here - right now !

This is the calm before the holiday weekend storm. I’m enjoying the calm - the peace, the quiet, the safety, and the security of my own home. But I can’t wait for the storm to begin. The storm of faith, fellowship, and Love at Harris Field in the heart of Homestead tomorrow afternoon and evening, and the glorious celebration of Easter Sunday at Life Pointe Church for about 5 hours on Sunday morning.

I’m working tomorrow morning, but then I’m taking the afternoon off. I plan to be on-site at Harris Field tomorrow afternoon right around 3 PM or so to help get that place transformed into our ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt‘. We will totally ROCK that place for several thousand guests for about 4 hours tomorrow night. Gates open to the public at 6 PM, and the fun begins shortly thereafter. Be there for the biggest Good Friday event in Homestead’s history !

I’ll have an early edition of your ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’ posted here on the blog shortly after 12 noon tomorrow, and then late on Friday night (or early on Saturday morning) I’ll have the ‘Life Pointe Church Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt Tossed Salad’ on here featuring a full recap of the night’s events.

Until we meet tomorrow afternoon at Harris Field, or until we meet back here at the blog remember this:

L’Eggo My Eggo !

Have a great night everyone !

Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame

The following E-Mail was recently circulated all over my workplace. It is a chain-letter with numerous fallacies including exaggerated, incorrect, and bogus information. Variants of this chain-letter have been in existence on the Internet since 1999. The bottom-line is that this is a classic example of a ‘denial-of-service’ chain-letter in which the main intent of it is to bog down E-Mail servers and Inboxes and decrease available Internet bandwidth worldwide. Any E-Mail that encourages you to forward it on to all of your friends is known as a ‘denial-of-service’ E-Mail. Virtually all of these types of E-Mails are Internet hoaxes. They should be deleted upon receipt of them. Do not forward them on, or you will merely add to this ongoing problem on the Internet.

Read more about it.

Subject: Dropping Gas Prices

THIS IS NOT THE ‘DON’T BUY GAS FOR ONE DAY’, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the “don’t buy gas on a certain day” campaign that was going around last April or May! It’s worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer, and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn’t continue to “hurt” ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you’re probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.19 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can’t just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here’s the idea: For the rest of this year, DON’T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It’s really simple to do! Now, don’t wimp out on me at this point…keep reading and I’ll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) … and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)…and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it….. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That’s all!

(If you don’t understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people…. Well, let’s face it, you just aren’t a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

I’ll bet you didn’t think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Keep it going!!!
