1. Tuesday nights have become ’me’ nights at home. On Mondays I’m typically away from home for 13+ hours with work and the weekly staff meeting at Life Pointe Church. On Wednesdays I only have about 3 hours at home after work and before Life Group. But Tuesdays when I get home I stay home and catch up with stuff. It’s my ‘fun’ day - my ‘I don’t have to run’ day !
2. TODAY I extended my ‘fun’ day by 4 hours and worked just a half a day. I went to Target for the first time since perhaps last December, and I went on a 90-minute shopping spree. Actually for the amount of time that I was scouring that store I didn’t really buy too many items (17). I could have really gone wild and bought 35 items !
6. I’m having a lot of fun and learning a lot too with my fresh new Panasonic DVD Recorder / VCR Combo. I bought it online at circuitcity.com a couple of Saturday nights ago, and FedEx delivered it to me (free of charge) less than two business days later ! I couldn’t believe my four eyes when it arrived that fast !
7. Since my new DVD recorder has a digital tuner I’m exploring and enjoying crystal clear digital television for the first time ever. I have 90 new digital channels (expanded basic) that I always had but couldn’t access until now. That includes 50 music channels. I dig that !
8. Last night and this morning I recorded four hours of digital television programming on DVD-RW for the first time ever. I’ve got some tweaks to make to this process. I recorded it all in EP mode (which allows for 8 hours of programming onto a single 4.7 GB DVD). The picture quality suffered a bit. I’ll have to bring it down a notch for my next recordings. I’m learning.
9. I’ve pushed back the purchase of my fresh new HP Pavilion laptop indefinitely - but not for too long. Once the initial enjoyment value for my DVD Recorder / digital television revolution begins to wind down a bit then it will be time for me to buy my next new toy - the laptop. It should happen sometime in August.
10. Bright and early this morning I was once again reminded why I rarely go through the drive-thru at the McDonald’s at the Oasis Plaza en el este de Homestead. It’s because the service is subpar. They get confused handling more than one order at a time !
It’s a warm and sticky Thursday night aqui en Homestead, and we’ve entered another extended dry period weatherwise with an abundance of clear skies, bright sunshine, and hot temperatures through at least the early part of next week. The chance of rain will be slim to none, but I can never rule out a quick passing shower in July - especially during the late-night and early-morning hours. Get out there and have some fun, but drink plenty of water !
TOMORROW on the big blog everybody’s waitin’ for the grande unveiling of this week’s original ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’. It’s what’s happenin’ dude at my favourite blogs from my favourite bloggers. Then on Saturday morning be sure to catch my ‘Shenanigans’. You just never know what could possibly happen when I get in my car on a Saturday morning and drive from here to there - wherever there may be. (Food will probably be involved.)
Until we hang out again here on the blog or LIVE and in-person - remember this !
Chris In 1994
It’s a ‘lost’ picture of me from 1994. I found it this morning while looking for something. Check out the ENORMOUS spectacles and the obsolete telephone and computer equipment on my desk !
1. It’s a cool, dark, and stormy Tuesday afternoon in Homestead. We’re still in a drought if you can believe that. We need a lot more rain than this to get ourselves out of this fine mess !
2. My brother and his lovely wife got me addicted to the TV show TMZ while I was at their house in Texas. I watch it almost every night now. I never saw a single episode of it before my recent trip to Texas.
3. I never realized how much I actually like iced coffee … before I started drinking iced coffee ! I’ve made the new Homestead Starbucks a Monday afternoon tradition (right before the weekly Life Pointe Church staff meeting).
4. Irony ? - A coworker of mine standing barefoot on an old chair on top of a hard floor while updating our building’s safety bulletin board !
5. Yesterday I picked-up the new premium fish fillet sandwich from Wendy’s, and I brought it back to work. I microwaved it (to get it a little warmer than it was), and it emitted a wonderful smell that attracted a small portion of my coworkers. They adored that smell. It probably smelled better than it tasted. It was a fine sandwich, but I wouldn’t consider it to be ‘premium’. If anything it was perhaps a bit overpriced.
6. Watch this cool Life Pointe Church promotional video from this past Sunday morning. I’m not in this one. I told Jesse that I wanna be a lovable babyface in his videos rather than a miserable heel. Travis alleges that I have a loyal cult following at the church. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a not so good thing.
7. Every Sunday morning at Life Pointe Church I manage to get myself in to a whole bunch of pictures, yet they never see the light of day. I challenge you to put those pictures online, or send them to me and I’ll put them on the blog here.
8. Here’s my brother in a recent text message to me describing what he had to deal with regarding his beloved dog Buddy - ‘… on Saturday he ate grass outside then ate insect killer that I sprayed, then vommitted BRIGHT YELLOW PUKE in A CIRCLE in the living room’.
9. My 2002 HP Pavilion laptop is dying a slow death. I can see myself buying a brand new one sooner than I thought - like before the Summer is over. I may even donate this old laptop to the church once I buy the new one.
10. Got ‘Rock Band‘ ? I’ll be the lead vocalist. I’m good like that !
I do more before 9 AM on a Saturday morning than many people do all day on Saturday !
I started my Saturday morning bright and early at Homestead’s Oasis Plaza Publix just a couple of minutes after they opened up their doors at 7 AM. Once upon a time I used to be the first person in to the original Towne Square Publix (Useless-One & Campbell Drive) on most Sunday mornings at 7 AM (sometimes on Saturday mornings at the same time). Nowadays a Saturday morning at 7 AM visit to Publix is a rare treat, and a Sunday morning at 7 AM visit is an impossibility (due to my other priorities). I was in and out of Publix with all of my groceries for the next couple of weeks or so in about 45 minutes.
Next on the agenda (after I took all of my groceries home) was Chevron on Homestead’s frantic corner of Useless-One and Campbell Drive. I filled up my car with 10.836 gallons of gas at $4.199 per gallon (an all-new record) for a total cost of $45.50 (another all-new record). It was my first fill-up with gas in 19 days (a few days above my usual running average). I averaged a daily consumption of 0.57 gallons of gas over the past 19 days.
I then went over to Walgreens where I got excellent $ALE DEAL$ on laundry detergent and videotapes (what a combination).
I capped-off my Saturday Morning Shenanigans at Burger King where I picked-up an Enormous Omelet Sandwich, Hash Browns, and Turbo Coffee. Burger King has always been my all-time favourite fast food restaurant for breakfast, and for many years I used to go there at least once or twice per week. This may have been my first or second visit in all of 2008 thus far. I just don’t eat as ‘bad’ as I used to ever since my MASSIVE heart attack and subsequent 9-month coma elevated cholesterol readings and subsequent Lipitor prescription. Eating a Burger King breakfast has now become a once-in-a-long-while occasion. I’ll do it again en Octubre !
And so those - mis amigos - are mis Saturday Morning Shenanigans. I got back home at 9 AM this morning, and now I’m watching television, surfing the web, doing laundry, paying bills, filing paperwork, and other fun stuff like that. This is the day that I’ve been waiting for since … last Saturday !
Have a sensational Saturday everyone ! Make it memorable.

For the first time in 17 days - here it is !
‘Don’t be hasty, prosperity will soon knock on your door.’
I actually thought about ordering a pizza from Domino’s earlier this afternoon (shortly after I returned home from work). I decided against it once I remembered that I ate Chinese Food for Lunch (at Panda Express). There will be no knocks on my door tonight (and hopefully all weekend long). I have relaxing to do this weekend.
Guess I will not be eating Oscar Meyer hot dogs any more!
Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Oscar Meyer because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their hot dogs and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.
Oscar Meyer replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Oscar Meyer does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of hot dogs.
So as not to offend Oscar Meyer, maybe we should not support them by buying any of their products!
As a war vet writing to fellow patriots, I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn’t mean we don’t support the boys on the ground fighting street-to-street and house-to-house for what they and I believe is right.
If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it and no one will never know.
Thanks very much for your support. I know you’ll all be there again when I deploy once more.

On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina appears to be headed to Homestead with (only) their 5TH Florida location (and 3RD in South Florida). They will be building a new 7,000 square foot restaurant on the north side of Campbell Drive west of Homestead Hospital across from the Oasis Plaza (where Publix is). Look for it to open early on in 2009.
Later this week on Friday be sure to catch the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’ where I expose my favourite blog entries of this current week from my favourite bloggers in the vast blogosphere.
But before that on Thursday it’s another wild edition of the ‘Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’, and if you love hot dogs then THIS is the one that could SHOCK you and make you ANGRY like never before. Be sure to grab your crew and not miss it. You won’t regret it pal.
That’s what’s comin’ up over the next 72 hours here on the big blog. Until we do it again - remember this crazy guy again:
1. Of all of the regular weekly blog entries that are posted on here this is the one that I look forward to compiling and posting more than any other. This is totally unrehearsed, and I am totally unprepared for it. This is raw, and that’s what makes it so cool. I have absolutely no clue what I plan to blog about for the next 9 items of interest, but I’ll just let my fingers do the talking and watch what happens.
2. The 10TH season / 9TH summer edition of “Big Brother” on CBS-TV begins this Sunday night at 8 PM EDT / 7 PM CDT. Please don’t bother me while it’s on (three nights a week as usual).
3. Some days everyone around me is a lousy driver. They either drive too slow in front of me, pull out in front of me, or tailgate me. This was one of those days. I couldn’t wait to get off of the streets.
4. Everytime I sneak a peek at this book I spend more time in it than I intended. I need to find some time this weekend to intentionally spend a couple of hours with it. It’s what I do for Life Pointe Church. It’s how I serve God and His children here in Homestead.
5. This afternoon I ordered a medium roast beef sandwich combo (with curly fries and a Sierra Mist) and an apple turnover via the drive-thru at Arby’s in Florida City (where all the food is). That’s what I paid for, and I’ve got the receipt right here to prove it. I got the curly fries, the Sierra Mist, and the apple turnover, but in lieu of the medium roast beef sandwich that I was truly looking forward to devouring I instead got - get this - a REUBEN ! I can dig mistakes like that when they work out in my favour flavour !
6. Are you tired of all of the rain here in Homestead (nearly 14 inches over the past 22 days) ? GOOD - I’m forecasting very little to no rain at all for the next 5 to 7 days (until perhaps early next week). Let’s see if I’m right.
8. I saw my hot new laptop on sale at a Best Buy in Plano Texas last week. The longer I wait the cheaper it gets with more power. Laptops with 4 GB of RAM are pretty much standard nowadays. So are desktops with 8 GB of RAM.
9. I survived my 5TH cold in 8 months. It lasted 6 days. I kinda knew that I was getting it before I got it, and it was pretty much gone before I realized it. Here’s hoping that I don’t have to be blogging about my 6TH cold in 10 months come Labour Day Weekend !
10. THIS JUST IN - My brother and his wife (my sister-in-law) now have a cold. My 6-DAY cold ‘peaked’ on its 3RD day. That was my last full day at their house. I felt a little bit better on the 4TH Of July - the day that I left them behind and flew back home. A single contact with my nasty cold germs left behind and it was pretty much all over for the both of them. They’ll probably infect each of their coworkers.

1. In addition to all of the walking that I did on the River Walk en San Antonio on Monday morning (by myself) and on Monday night (with my brother) I walked the mother of all walks long and short on Tuesday morning. It was longer than any previous walk (around my neighbourhood) in ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ history ! The River Walk may just be the greatest place ever to do a ‘Walk-A-Thon’.
2. Me and my brother ate dinner at Casa Rio on the River Walk on Monday afternoon. It was quite tasty Mexican food Jesse. I enjoyed the ‘Casa Rio Deluxe Dinner’. It’s apparently their #1 seller. It consists of a Cheese Enchilada, a Tamale, a Crispy Beef Taco, Chili Con Carne, Guacamole Salad, Chili Con Queso, Mexican Rice, y Refried Beans. ¡ Era delicioso !
3. On Tuesday afternoon we ate dinner at Joe’s Crab Shack on the River Walk. I also ate there for dinner during my last visit to the River Walk in October 2003. I enjoyed the Shrimp Pasta Alfredo. It was an abundance of tasty pasta and succulent alfredo sauce with mucho bits of shrimp. That’s What I’m Talkin’ About !
4. After all of that walking and eating we took a 30-minute tour of the river by water. It was a lot of fun, and our tour guide was the king of corny one-liners on the river. I think that he may have been a reject from one of the local comedy clubs. Nevertheless he made everyone giggle throughout the cruise. The cruise was sort of like a final wrap-up or summary of all of the walking that had been previously done by me / us (moreso me) on Monday and Tuesday.
5. After the fun cruise we bid a fond farewell to the Paseo Del Rio, and we walked on up to the street level of the city. We took a few pictures over at the Alamo Plaza. (The Alamo itself was long closed by the time that we got there at 7 PM.) We spent about an hour over at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not ! right across the street from The Alamo. There was a lot of loco stuff to look at inside that place !
Just because I’m not there doesn’t mean that I can’t do this:
1. It’s 10 PM EDT in Homestead - and 9 PM CDT here on the River Walk en San Antonio as I begin posting this blog entry, and that makes it a true ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’. Normally these weekly thoughts are compiled and published late on a Tuesday afternoon, but that’s not the case this week. I was busy being a tourist on this particular Tuesday afternoon.
2. As the 10:30 AM service was just getting started at Life Pointe Church this past Sunday morning me and my brother were just getting started with our 5-hour / 300-mile trek from Allen Texas (north of Dallas) to San Antonio. (We’ll be making the return trip back to Allen on Wednesday afternoon.)
3. I saw this on a billboard on the President George Bush Turnpike north of Dallas - ‘YOUR WIFE IS HOT !‘ (in big bold letters). Underneath that it read (in much smaller letters) - ‘Better Get That A.C. Fixed’. Now that’s effective advertising that grabbed my (short) attention (span) !
4. We stopped by my brother’s office in a generic high-rise office building in Dallas to pick up a few items. My immediate observation of the joint - he’s got absolutely no pictures of me in his office. Hopefully this public thought right here will give him a substantial guilt complex that will remind him to go home and retrieve a picture of me so that he can proudly display it in his office.
5. Parts of I-35 southbound away from Dallas and towards Waco, Austin, and San Antonio kinda sorta reminded me of parts of I-4 westbound away from Orlando and towards Lakeland and Tampa. Central Texas looks a lot like Central Florida in many areas.
6. We hit 100,000 miles in my brother’s 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee while driving southbound on I-35, and my brother actually captured the flip-over from 99,999 miles to 100,000 miles on video while driving about 75 MPH in the fast lane and passing an 18-wheeler. (I was slightly terrified during those couple of minutes.)
7. Me and my brother ate dinner Sunday night at this place in San Antonio about 9 miles from downtown. It’s a place that I’ve been to once before - in October 2003 the last time I was in town. We saw the WWE PPV ‘Night Of Champions’ there.
10. I saw “The Happening” Monday afternoon at the movies, and I thought that it was near-perfect (if you’re in to that type of box office entertainment). It was more eye-popping than it was bonechilling. What was even more horrific than the movie itself is the fact that parents actually brought their small school-aged kids into the theatre to watch the movie as well. If you know anything about this movie then you may just agree with me when I refer to those parents as ‘irresponsible’.

Late yesterday afternoon the northern skies over Allen Texas got dark, and lightning was clearly visible. But it never rained in my brother’s neighbourhood. We drove a few miles towards the other side of town, and there was substantial flooding everywhere ! It was still raining a little bit, but it had already rained a lot. We picked-up our dinner (at Wingstop), and then we headed back home again in the puddles. Once we got back to his neighbourhood we realized that it was bone dry again. It never rained here.
It reminds me of home - a place where we can have torrential downpours for an hour over one neighbourhood in Homestead, and nothing at all everywhere else. What rain ? We didn’t get any rain ! Are you kidding me ?
1. I walked in to Miami Internacional Aeropuerto at exactly 6:45 AM, and by 7:15 AM I had successfully self-checked-in with my airline, picked up my tag for my suitcase, and dropped off my suitcase with the screening section. By 7:30 AM I had successfully gone through security. It took a little over 45 minutes to get from the outside of the terminal to the actual gate. That’s not too bad. Anytime I can get from outside to the gate in less than an hour is a good time.
2. Your typical big city airport may be crowded, but it can also be one of the loneliest places in the world. It’s never about the sheer number of people. It’s always about the quality of the interaction of the people. Call it fellowship. If there’s a lack of fellowship then it’s not fully alive.
3. There were large organized groups of missionaries at the airport. Most of them came from or were headed to various Caribbean nations (such as Haiti) to assist in the relief efforts there. I know this because they all had colourful tee-shirts on stating that they were missionairies. Some of the tee-shirts had a map of Haiti on them. Some of them had a verse from Matthew on them.
4. I usually can’t sleep at all no matter how hard I try to up in the air, but this morning I managed to somehow catch a few catnaps at 38,000 feet. I also listened to the hits on my iPod Shuffle and watched a couple of funny CBS sitcoms on the overhead monitors - “The Big Bang Theory” and “The New Adventures Of Old Christine“.
5. Fuddruckers - It’s What Was For Lunch ! Need I say more my friends ?
Vladimir Lagovski and Andrei Moiseynko from Komsomolskaya Pravda Newspaper in Moscow decided to learn first-hand how harmful cell phones are. There is no magic in cooking with your cell phone. The secret is in the radio waves that the cell phone radiates.
The journalists created a simple microwave structure as shown in the (first) picture. They called from one cell phone to the other and left both phones on talking mode. They placed a tape recorder next to the phones to imitate sounds of speaking so the phones would stay on.
After 15 minutes the egg became slightly warm. After 25 minutes it became very warm. After 40 minutes it became very hot. After 65 minutes it was cooked !
IMAGINE THE DAMAGE YOU’RE DOING TO YOURSELF EVERY TIME YOU USE A CELL PHONE !
2. I attended a nice retirement luncheon at work (picnic-style outside) for a lady / colleague who has worked at the base since the mid-1970s. The base is losing a financial wizard as she walks off into the sunset.
3. I drove straight from work over to the Life Pointe Church offices in old historic uptown Homestead. Venus and I will be starring in this Sunday’s promotional video for the continuing ‘Got Funk ?’ message series. I won’t be there to see it world premiere on the big screen this Sunday morning (showtimes at approximately 9:25 and 10:55), but I’m pretty sure that you crazy cats will tell me all about it here on my blog on Sunday afternoon. I must warn you though that this latest creation from Fuser Films Of Homestead (Jesse S.) is somewhat scandalous and downright shocking. You’re not gonna believe what comes out of my mouth in the acting role of a lifetime. This is what all of Life Pointe Church is going to be talking about out in the main lobby after both services ! You’re not gonna wanna miss it pal.
4. From the LPC offices I drove straight over to Anne J.’s and J.T.’s house for Life Group. Tonight was ‘Fellowship Night’, so we enjoyed lots of food and fun and games. We played Outburst. My team (which included Venus, Nicole, Willie, and J.T. lost 62-60). It was a lot of fun though, and that’s what really matters.
5. I got home late tonight, and I realized that I’ve got a lot of work to do tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday afternoon after I get home from work in preparation for my upcoming vacation - such as doing laundry and packing. I shall GIT-R-DONE !
But right now all I’m thinking about is getting some rest, so I’ll be shutting everything down and doing just that over the next 45 minutes or so. Have a wonderful Wednesday evening everyone, and be sure to catch me again on here tomorrow night for your ‘Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’. It’s the one that’s gonna make you tremble in fear - or not !
It’s the most anticipated blog entry of the week. This is how we roll on a Tuesday night in Homestead Florida !
1. George Carlin died over the weekend at the age of 71. While I didn’t agree with virtually all of his political viewpoints (as he identified them in public) he was still one of the greatest and funniest comedians in American history as far as I’m concerned. I will miss his LIVE HBO specials every few years.
2. I ate Chinese Food for Lunch today. I picked it up from Shanghai & Tokyo in Homestead’s Waterstone Plaza. I’m a semi-regular there. They usually give me two fortune cookies to go along with my ‘Lunch Special’. Later tonight I’ll have your special ‘double feature’ edition of ‘The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club’. Don’t miss it !
3. Earlier today I went to annualcreditreport.com and I printed out three full and complete credit reports for me from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. annualcreditreport.com is the only site that is legally able to give you free copies of your credit report from all three of those credit bureau sites. I did all of this in less than 45 minutes this morning, and I got over 30 pages of important credit information spanning virtually my entire adult life.
4. I thrive in a hot and humid environment (such as Homestead). I could not live happily ever after in a cold and dry environment - or a hot and dry environment for that matter. It’s hotter in San Antonio (where I’ll be next week) than it is here in Homestead, but it’s less humid over there than it is over here. I’d rather have the extra humidity rather than the higher temperatures.
5. I’ve become a semi-regular of the new Starbucks in Homestead. The people that work there are now starting to recognize me and my car. So far I have received consistent great service from them - inside as well as via their drive-thru. Let’s hope that it stays that way.
7. Some people have a chronic addiction to their cell phone. They just can’t stop calling people all over the free nation and sharing their private lives in public via their loud cell phone conversations. No wonder identity theft exists. Remember the good old days when telephone conversations were done in private inside the home ?
8. Homestead Trivia - How many miles apart are Speedway Boulevard (SW 137TH Avenue) and Krome Avenue (SW 177TH Avenue) ? The answer - exactly 4.0 miles. In Miami-Dade County each numbered avenue is exactly 0.1 miles apart to the grid. 40 avenues apart = 4.0 miles. It’s that simple my friends !
9. Me, My Brother, His Wife, & Fuddruckers - That’s the plan for Lunch as soon as I touch down in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex this Saturday. After that we will all go and play a round of minature golf. I totally dig that plan !
10. Next week your ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’ will come to you LIVE from the River Walk in San Antonio. I’m also planning at least a couple of special editions of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’. You’re not gonna wanna miss it my friends.
WELCOME to a fresh new week here on the big blog. TODAY - Monday June 23RD 2008 - turned out to be the busiest Monday in the history of this blog. You crazy cats shattered the previous Monday record (set back in April) by a mind-boggling 28.7%, and you did that without me. I didn’t even touch my blog until after the day had officially ended (at 8 PM EDT / 12 AM UTC).
Last week we enjoyed our busiest Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday EVER, and it was also our busiest (Monday to Sunday) week EVER by a whopping 15.5%. Keep on doing your thing on here - reading and commenting. It’s all part of the overall concept of blogging. You are all bloggers, and together we are keeping in touch with each other when we can’t be right next to each other physically. It’s like a ministry of fellowship on here. This is how we take our faith public via modern electronic means in the 21ST Century.
I was at my Saturn dealership in Cutler Bay for nearly 7 hours today waiting on my car as it was getting nearly $1,100 worth of repair work done. Luckily I didn’t pay that much (because there were exactly 3 days remaining with the original 5-year extended warranty for the car). During those 7 hours I scribbled down a few rough notes in preparation for tomorrow’s ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’. It’s the most spontaneous blog entry of the entire week, and you’re not gonna believe some of my thoughts tomorrow. It’s what everyone will be talking about around the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday on Wednesday. Don’t you dare miss it. You won’t regret it pal.
Later this week you may not want to use your cell phone ever again once you see the most SHOCKING ‘Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’ to date ! This is the one that could really frighten you to bits and make you tremble in fear, or it could all be an Internet HOAX ! You decide - Thursday night.
So that’s what I’ve got for you tonight - an obvious ‘Blatant Promotion’ of this blog and all of you who are an important part of it. Without you this wouldn’t be. I’ll catch you all back here tomorrow - same time - same channel. Have a great evening everyone ! Good Night Friends. Good Night Gricelda.

SHENANIGANS FACTOID - It’s exactly 2.3 miles from my parking space at home to my parking space at the Cracker Barrel in Florida City (where all of the gas stations arefood is).
This morning I walked in to the joint a few minutes after opening time at 6 AM. My longtime waittress of the past 355 years greeted me at my carthe entrance to the restaurant portion, and she was thrilledtotally ecstatic to see me. The feeling was mutual. She knows what I like to eat !
Based on Tammy’s suggestion alone I enjoyed the Wild Maine Blueberry Pancake Breakfast (with scrambled eggs with melted American cheese inside and also succulent smoked sausage). Are you paying attention Paul ? This was truly one MASSIVE meal, and I’ll be recovering from it (in a good way) for the rest of the morning.
You know I never realized that wild blueberries grew rampant all throughout the great state of Maine. According to this educational web site courtesy of the University Of Maine the state has ‘60,000 acres of wild blueberries (that) grow naturally in fields and barrens that stretch from Downeast to the state’s southwest corner’. When I typed in ‘blueberries’ and ‘Maine’ within a Yahoo ! search engine box I got back the first 10 of some 932,000 results ! I also learned that Maine is the largest producer of wild blueberries in the entire world ! Maine sounds like a very delicious state to me !
And so these are my ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’ for this week. Thank you for allowing me to share them with you. Until we meet again please enjoy this interesting short film all about wild blueberries:
We are less than 24 hours away from the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’. It’s where I give back to my favourite bloggers in the blogosphere and highlight my favourite blogs of this past week. Look for it to drop here on the big blog tomorrow (Friday) before 5 PM EDT.
Then be sure to catch another zany madcap edition of the ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’. Last week I skipped out on a MASSIVE breakfast by shopping at Publix instead. This week I’m fully stocked on groceries, so I’ll be enjoying the mother of all meals big and small bright and early this Saturday morning somewhere in Florida City (where all of the food is). It’s how I roll all summer long in lieu of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ (which remains on hiatus for another 5 months or so).
Be sure to join the fun this Friday night and Saturday morning. You won’t regret it pal.
THANKS SO MUCH for reading and commenting. TODAY - Thursday June 19TH 2008 - was not only the busiest Thursday in history (drubbing the previous Thursday record by nearly 25%), but it was also the busiest day EVER - eclipsing the previous all-time record by nearly 7% !

It’s after 9:30 PM on a Sunday night, and I’m already thinking about my next MASSIVE meal - Lunch tomorrow. Weather-permitting and work-permitting I plan to go to either Beef O’ Brady’s or Peking House, so I should have 1 of 2 blog entries for your reading pleasure tomorrow (Monday) night (after 7 PM):
- ‘Beef O’ Brady’s: It’s What’s For Lunch’
